Set default channels for new users

This feature is only available to organization owners and administrators.

When new users join a Zulip organization, they are subscribed to a default set of channels. Organization administrators can add or remove channels from that default set.

Add a new default channel

  1. Click on the gear () icon in the upper right corner of the web or desktop app.

  2. Select Organization settings.

  3. On the left, click Default channels.

  4. Under Add new default channel, enter the name of a channel.

  5. Click Add channel.

Remove a default channel

  1. Click on the gear () icon in the upper right corner of the web or desktop app.

  2. Select Organization settings.

  3. On the left, click Default channels.

  4. Find the channel you would like to remove, and click Remove from default.
